對於小熊隊來說，這是最不想聽到的消息，那就是從阪神虎隊簽過來，季初設定為終結者的藤川球兒（Kyuji Fujikawa），在本季４月初時已經有進入一次１５天傷兵名單，也因此缺席４月１３日到５月１０日的比賽，他在這次受傷賽後認為手臂感覺跟前一次進入傷兵名單時一樣的疼痛感，但最後經過縝密的檢查後，確定要開Tommy John手術，本季報銷。
 
CHICAGO -- Cubs reliever Kyuji Fujikawa was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm on Monday for the second time this season. The right-hander, who was on the DL from April 13 to May 10 with the same problem, had to leave Sunday's game in the ninth inning. He said after the game the pain was similar to what put him on the disabled list earlier this season. Sunday was his seventh appearance since coming off the disabled list.
"We're cautiously optimistic that it's going to be the same thing he had before," Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said. "We'll find out more tomorrow."
Fujikawa will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

Tommy John surgery, as you likely know, has a recovery time of 12-18 months, depending on the player, his age and other factors. Fujikawa is 32, so he could still recover and be productive in the major leagues, but this likely takes him out of the Cubs' equation not only for this year, but probably for all of 2014 as well.
I'd expect that Fujikawa will be placed on the 60-day disabled list in order to open up another spot for a future acquisition. In the meantime, since he was already on the 15-day disabled list, this doesn't change anything on the current active roster.
It's really too bad, as Fujikawa came over from NPB with impressive credentials and it appeared as if the Cubs hoped he would be their closer next year, if not sooner. Instead, the parade of Cubs pitchers heading to
Tommy John surgery continues.

素有大Z之稱的Carlos Zambrano，這位目前才３１歲的前大聯盟球員，如今到獨立聯盟打球，尋求球隊給予他東山再起的機會。

Righty Carlos Zambrano has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, tweets Chris Cotillo of CLNS Radio.  MLB.com's Carrie Muskat has confirmed the signing (also via Twitter).
As Ducks president and GM Michael Pfaff recently explained to MLBTR's Zach Links, the team prioritizes winning but wants to "help players with their careers, help them continue their careers, and help them get back to the
major leagues."  That's surely Zambrano's plan.  The 31-year-old righty joined the Marlins via trade in January 2012, posting a 4.49 ERA, 6.5 K/9, 5.1 BB/9, 0.61 HR/9, and 49.1% groundball rate in 132 1/3 innings (20 starts
and 15 relief appearances).  Zambrano, a three-time All-Star, was a workhorse for the Cubs from 2003-07, averaging 215 innings per season.
From the '07 fight with teammate Michael Barrett, the five-year, $91.5MM contract signed that year, all kinds of odd ailments, the no-hitter in '08 against the Astros at Miller Park, the '09 on-field tantrum that led to a
six-game suspension, problems with Cubs management, the move to the bullpen and back, the issue with Derrek Lee in '10 that led to a team-mandated suspension, his placement on the disqualified list in '11, to the salary dump trade to Miami, Z's final years as a Cub were tumultuous to say the least.

由於今年Alex Rodriguez因為開刀而可能喪失大半球季，外加上禁藥風波有可能讓他直接離開美國職棒大聯盟，洋基隨而補進去年被交易到白襪隊的前紅襪隊打者Kevin Youkilis補上三壘位置，但昨天Kevin Youkilis說出一段話或許會被人解讀成為讓洋基球團感到不是滋味的內容，原文如下：
 
Kevin Youkilis: “I’ll always be a Red Sock”
I like this interview with Kevin Youkilis in the Daily News, as he appears totally unwilling to take the bait we usually see laid for new members of the Yankees, especially ones who had a long tenure with another team.
You know the bait I mean: interviews which seem geared toward getting the player to talk about how special it is to be a Yankee and how much different and better and important it is. There’s almost a propaganda aspect to it,
actually. The first spring training interview with a new Yankee player is the first chance the tabloids or talk radio get to place the new guy in the True Yankee Continuum.
Here Youkilis, while sounding totally professional about his new team and new challenges, and while handling questions about hot button topics like A-Rod, Joba Chamberlain and The Rivalry, doesn’t lose perspective about his career:
“To negate all the years I played for the Boston Red Sox and all the tradition, you look at all the stuff I have piled up at my house, to say I’d just throw it out the window, that’s not true,” Youkilis said. “I’ll always be a Red Sock.”
It’ll be interesting to watch how the Yankees media reacts to and treats Youkilis this season. I imagine there’s a pretty big temptation to play up the Boston-New York stuff. Maybe even to use this quote against him somehow. But to me it sounds like he’s going to navigate it OK. Neither falling into the Yankees genuflection many expect of new arrivals nor allowing himself to be portrayed as some sort of heel.

其實很簡單，當第一次由洋基對上紅襪的時候，看Kevin Youkilis對紅襪打球，認真的敲一發全壘打，或許就能讓洋基球迷感到安心了。
不過說真的，尤其像Kevin Youkilis在２００１年被紅襪選上，２００４就在大聯盟亮相的他，一直到去年年初都還在紅襪隊打球，對紅襪還有一定的回憶是很正常的，要說他是人在曹營心在漢的這種說法一定會有，或許也是因為洋基和紅襪是死對頭吧，才會有出現這樣的說法，只是在美國職棒球員來來去去，球員何時會轉隊都是不一定的事情，或許有些是主動要轉隊，或許有些球員就像水手隊的Felix Hernandez或光芒隊的Longoria從一而終是不多見的，但球員應該早就知道這些事情，只是情感上或許還是不能直接放手。
說是這麼說啦，事實還是回到球場上，看到對手就是不能投入感情，認真的面對每一場球賽，這才是對球員以及現在的球隊最重要的價值吧。

日前傳出在浴室跌倒受傷的海盜隊投手Francisco Liriano，說出真正受傷的原因，原來不是在浴室跌倒受傷，而是跟小孩子在玩用力搥門造成受傷的。
On Christmas this year, Francisco Liriano's gift to himself was flushing $11 million in guaranteed money down the drain. 
And all because he was trying to pull a prank on his kids. Oh, the horror.
From Michael Sanserino of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
According to the Associated Press (via ESPN), Liriano can earn "$5.25 million this year and $8.5 million in 2014 if he pitches 200 innings a season," and he also has "$3.75 million in available roster bonuses this year under the deal based on days on the active big league roster or the disabled list, not including days on the DL as the result of the pre-existing injury to his right arm."
原本Francisco Liriano可以拿到第一年５２５萬美金和明年８５０萬薪水，如今他將僅僅拿一年一百萬附加激勵獎金，損失慘重。
So he can make that money back.
And the upside is that Liriano broke his non-pitching arm. But it's pretty hard to imagine him reaching 200 innings, seeing as he has never done so in his career.
Liriano has been a major disappointment in the past two seasons after pitching well in 2010. Last year between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox, he was 6-12 in 156.2 innings with a 5.34 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 167 strikeouts.

The left-hander always presents a conundrum for managers and fantasy baseball owners alike. He has electric stuff when he's on his game, but an injury-riddled past and plenty of inconsistency have marked the latter portion of his career.
Long gone is the man who blew past big-league batters in 2006, finishing 12-3 with a 2.16 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 144 strikeouts. Since undergoing Tommy John surgery and missing all of the 2007 season, he has never quite been the same.

Well, if the story is true, that is.

去年年底從紅襪隊失業的日籍投手松坂大輔，如今終於有了好消息，克里夫蘭印地安人隊與松坂談下合約，以一紙小聯盟合約簽下，而合約價值最多可以達４百萬，這也算是印地安人隊想要賭一下這位昔日曾拿過１８勝日籍投手的機會吧。
 
最可能的價碼是將拿到１５０萬美金的合約，加上其他的激勵獎金，才有可能拿到更高的價碼。 
松坂大輔在前年六月時接受右手肘的Tommy John手術，隨即在去年四月開始投復健賽，在五月時開始進入３Ａ比賽，六月開始進入投手輪值表，但整季卻投不出個好成績，１１場先發僅投出１勝７敗防禦率８。２８的數字，短短的４５。２局雖然還是投出符合他實力的４１次三振，也被敲出５８支安打和２０次保送，但是過多的被全壘打（１１支）造成他的重傷害，讓他在與紅襪隊的最後一年合約結束後，老東家決定不與他續約。
今年３２歲的他在剛進紅襪隊的２００７年投出１５勝１２敗，０８年甚至投出１８勝３敗防禦率２。９０的成績，前兩年的表現堪稱是從日本職棒轉到美國職棒最強的投手之一，但是後面簽下四年合約後，成績不合身價也讓他遭受批評，如今有機會接下在小聯盟的合約，還有機會回到大聯盟，相信對他來說也是最希望的事吧。

雖然離合約結束還有一段時間，但是水手隊已經忍不住了，與陣中王牌投手Felix Hernandez簽下延長合約，總值是７年１．７５億美金，打破了原本保持的洋基隊C.C Sabathia的７年１．６１億美金。
 
但事實上應該是這麼說，最後這兩年的１９５０萬和２０００萬美金，再加上延長合約的５年１．３５億美金的總額成為如此高的合約，但不管有沒有真的打破這個合約，Felix Hernandez的口袋一定裝的滿滿滿。
Felix Hernandez is about to sign the most lucrative contract any pitcher has ever obtained. The Mariners have agreed to sign the 26-year-old right-hander to a seven-year, $175MM contract, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Alan Nero of Octagon represents Hernandez, whose deal should be finalized before Spring Training.
Hernandez’s previous contract covered the 2013-14 seasons and called for salaries of $19.5MM in 2013 and $20MM in 2013. The new contract replaces the previous deal, extending the Mariners’ team control by five years through his age-33 season.
C.C. Sabathia established the previous record for pitchers when he signed a seven-year, $161MM contract following the 2009 season. Zack Greinke established a record for right-handed pitchers earlier this offseason, when he obtained a $147MM guarantee from the Dodgers. Hernandez’s deal eclipses Greinke’s deal in terms of total value and average annual value.
If completed Hernandez's seven-year, $175MM deal would become the largest financial commitment of the offseason, surpassing Greinke's contract with the Dodgers and Josh Hamilton's deal with the Angels. The deal would also be the largest commitment in Mariners' history.
Hernandez signed his previous contract, a five-year, $78MM deal, after the 2009 season. Weeks after Hernandez signed, Justin Verlander obtained a five-year, $80MM contract from the Tigers. It's conceivable that history could repeat itself and that Hernandez's contract could again establish parameters for a deal between the Tigers and their ace. Like Hernandez, Verlander is two years away from free agency. Clayton Kershaw, another Cy Young winner who's two years from the open market, could also look to Hernandez's contract as a potential point of reference.
Hernandez has solidified his place as one of the game's elite starters since debuting as a teenager in 2005. He won the Cy Young Award in 2010 and finished fourth in the 2012 balloting. Last year Hernandez posted a 3.06 ERA with 8.7 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 over the course of 232 innings in a season highlighted by his August perfect game. 'King Felix' has pitched at least 230 innings in each of the last four seasons, a period for which he has an ERA of 2.81 and nearly as many strikeouts as innings pitched.

上文大約是說他的整體成績以及打破了C.C和去年道奇隊簽下來的Zack Greinke的７年１．４７億合約，不過說真的對他來說，這張合約跑完之後也剛好是３３歲的年紀，一約還有一約高，保持狀況好的話會有相當高的機會再度打破水手隊史紀錄了。
有人問說：為什麼我只說水手紀錄？想想書僮kershaw和Price的年紀和成績，還有可能突破新高，甚至是Justin Verlander（如果老闆認為他可以的話，年紀稍大），都是這個合約之下的受惠者吧。

Hampered by a series of right shoulder injuries, former National League Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb will officially retire from baseball, his agent told MLB.com.

Webb, 33, hasn't pitched in the Majors since 2009. He won the NL Cy Young Award in 2006 with Arizona, and finished second in '07 and '08 before shoulder issues derailed his career.

The right-hander injured his shoulder in his first start of the '09 season and hasn't pitched in the big leagues since.

He attempted a comeback with the Rangers in 2011, but never made it out of the Minor Leagues. Webb struggled to an 0-2 record with a 9.75 ERA with Double-A Frisco, and later underwent a second surgery on his rotator cuff.

Multiple teams were rumored this offseason to be interested in Webb, who had been planning another comeback attempt.

Instead, Webb will officially retire after seven Major League seasons, all spent with the D-backs. Overall, he went 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA in 199 career appearances (198 starts).

而從他在官網上的數據來看，只要他出賽的那一年都能投出至少１８０局的保證，從２００３年開始１９９場出賽投了１３１９。２局，也投出了１０６５次三振和４３５次保送，被安打１２００支也僅有在有傷的最後一年安打數超過局數而已，生涯被安打率０。２４３和被上壘率１。２４都夠水準，如今一但以３３歲的年紀離開球場，只能說是相當可惜的事情。
 
不過，如今先行離開，我們能不能期待他季中回來，就像老克Roger Clemens在２００６年和２００７年季中回來？我真心的希望會出現這種結局。

前些日子美國職棒中，曾經被球迷稱為薪水小偷的Pavano日前在家中因為鏟雪摔倒受傷，導致脾臟出血，相信這則新聞應該不少人有看過：

Baseball players have been hurt in many embarrassing ways. See the weirdest, ego-bruising injuries. Pavano, 37, recently suffered a ruptured spleen that will sideline him for 6 to 8 weeks, according to major-league sources.
The injury occurred when slipped and fell while shoveling snow on his driveway in Vermont, one source said.
Pavano’s agent, Dave Pepe, declined comment.
The Colorado Rockies and New York Mets were among the teams that had shown interest in Pavano, sources said.
Pavano did not pitch after June 1 last season due to a sore right shoulder that was caused by a bone bruise on his humerus, according to reports.
He enjoyed a resurgence in the two seasons prior to that, winning 26 games and averaging 222 innings for the Twins.
 
原本想說應該是休養六到八周就好，但是昨天在經紀人表示因為脾臟失血不止，於是摘除了脾臟，至於他要回到球場時間，恐怕是要有一段時間的休養才可以。
