就在最後的時間，原本被認定最有可能與Lee簽約的紐約洋基隊以及德州遊騎兵隊，在最後關頭被費城人隊搶走，簡單的以５年１.１５億的價格搶走，跌破大家的眼鏡；也因為這樣，費城人最強四巨頭出現，成為目前國東最恐怖的四人輪值－＞Roy Halladay，Cliff Lee，Roy Oswalt，Cole Hamels，已經可以媲美當初９０年代亞特蘭大勇士隊的三巨頭Greg Maddux，Tom Glavine，John Smoltz連線，甚至於與９８年的勇士五巨頭（Greg Maddux，Tom Glavine，John Smoltz，Denny Neagle及Kevin Millwood）相比較，也不相上下。

據了解，三隊開出的合約內容幾乎都給予Lee高度肯定，合約長度如下：

費城費城人：5年, $115M + 第六年 vesting option
紐約　洋基：6年, $138M + 第七年 $16M player option共保障七年１５４M
德州遊騎兵：6年, $138M + 第七年 vesting option共保障六年１３８M，若七年最高可達１６１M

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers' pursuit of pitcher Cliff Lee took an unexpected twist on Monday when they were told that he is signing with the Phillies.

Industry sources said the Rangers were informed of the decision Monday night.

The Rangers and the Yankees have been considered the front-runners to sign Lee, but the Phillies have pushed hard since the Winter Meetings and won the pursuit.

Lee pitched for the Phillies for the final two months of the 2009 season and, as he did with the Rangers this past season, helped them reach the World Series.

The Phillies traded him to the Mariners last winter. The Rangers acquired him from the Mariners on July 9 and have been trying hard to re-sign him. But the Phillies' emergence has left the Rangers on the outside.

The Yankees had made a seven-year offer to Lee and the Rangers made a series of offers to Lee last Thursday in Arkansas. Neither was good enough.

由官網這篇文章來看，Cliff Lee捨棄了給予較長約的遊騎兵及紐約洋基隊，針對於家人更喜歡的費城這個環境，最終選擇落腳在此。

０９年從印地安人效力，季末轉至費城人隊後季後賽四連勝，但在總冠軍賽球隊輸給了洋基隊，無緣拿到冠軍戒；１０年轉至水手隊，又在季中換至游騎兵隊，在季後賽大發神威創造紀錄的Cliff Lee，最終面對舊金山巨人隊連兩場破功，也再度無緣拿到冠軍戒。

我想，就連Halladay也只能簽到３年６０００萬美金的情況下，這次的軍備對於費城人來說，的確是打了一場勝利的仗，也點燃起國聯東區的戰火，這樣的投手陣容要用多大的能耐擊敗他們？的確是需要很大的難度吧。

這樣的投手陣容，後援投手還要過生活嗎？只是今年打線在季後補強時，缺了Werth的打線，勢必會有所影響就是。（不過話說回來J.Rollins及Utley應該不至於繼續低潮吧....）
